A 21st Century Literary Anthology
Edited by Jaime An Lim, Christine Godinez-Ortega and Ricardo M. de Ungria
No longer sold new: look for it in a library, or for a used copy.
An anthology of writing from Mindanao this century, edited at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, with Moro writers among its contributors, Calbi A. Asain’s story “Hegira” among them.
This anthology gathers new writing from and about Mindanao. It is edited by Jaime An Lim, Christine F. Godinez-Ortega and Ricardo M. de Ungria and was published by Far Eastern University, with a copyright date of 2019. It has 346 pages of poetry, fiction, essays and drama by 63 writers, most of them from the younger generation.
The editors meant it to help students understand Mindanao's 3 main peoples: the Lumad, the Moro, and the descendants of Christian settlers, now in their 3rd and 4th generations. Some pieces were written in English or Filipino. Others are translations into English or Filipino from Binukid, Maranao, Maguindanao and Mandaya.
The book is a sequel to Mindanao Harvest 1 and 2, published in 1995 and 1996. Mindanao Harvest 3, put together by Godinez-Ortega alone, was a book of folktales retold by 16 writers. Volume 4 was launched during the Diyandi Festival of Iligan City and later in Manila and Davao City. It won the National Book Award for best anthology in 2022.
