A Pedagogical Grammar of the Language of Jolo, Philippines
Still in print: the link goes to a shop that sells it.
A full course in Tausug grammar for the serious learner.
Intensive Tausug is a course in the language of Jolo Island and nearby islands such as Pata, Marunggas, Tapul and Lugus, and the common language of the Sulu archipelago. Carl R. Galvez Rubino wrote it as either a self-study grammar or a classroom textbook. It aims to build the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The book has 20 lessons. Each is built around dialogues chosen for their grammar, themes or culture, and new vocabulary follows each dialogue. Rubino assumes that most learners already speak Tagalog or another Philippine language. So he focuses on where Tausug differs from Tagalog, rather than on features that would only seem strange to an English speaker. The book runs to over 400 pages, in English and Tausug, with indexes.
