The Story of the Moros
Still in print: the link goes to a shop that sells it.
A popular history of the Moros and their wars with Spain and the United States, by an American who had lived in Zamboanga; vivid, partisan and long the only book of its kind in English.
This is a popular history of the Moros and their long wars, written for American readers by Vic Hurley and published in New York by E. P. Dutton. Library records list its subjects as the Muslims of the Philippines and the history of Mindanao.
Hurley went to the Philippines in 1925 and started a coconut plantation in the interior of Mindanao, which failed. He then spent 7 years in Zamboanga managing American companies and was made an honorary third lieutenant in the Philippine Constabulary. He left in 1934 and drew on these years for this book and for Jungle Patrol, his history of the Constabulary.
The book has been reprinted, including by Orchid Press in 2009 with photographs and maps from the author's own collection, and by Cerberus Books.
